How TROT Edu Works
A step-by-step overview of the FTR and Sponsorship Unit ecosystem
Institute Registration
Accredited post-12th institutes register on the TROT Edu platform with their accreditation documents, course offerings, annual intake capacity, and escrow banking details.
FTR/SU Generation
Institutes generate FTRs or SUs against their seats. Each unit is minted on a permissioned blockchain with a locked fee amount. Issuance is capped at 600% of annual sanctioned intake.
Purchase/Donation
FTRs: Households, corporates, or NRIs purchase FTRs to lock current fees for future use.
SUs: Sponsors donate to receive SUs (80G + CSR eligible). Minimum 70% must go to merit/needy students.
Hold, Swap, or Trade
FTRs: Can be held, swapped between institutes, or traded. Global interchangeability allows use at any participating institute worldwide.
SUs: Non-tradable but can nominate a deserving student for sponsorship.
Redemption
When a student meets eligibility criteria, the FTR/SU holder presents units for redemption. The student pays only the locked historical fee (for FTRs) or nothing at all (for SUs). Upon redemption, seats are replenished.
Perpetual Funding Loop
Every redeemed FTR/SU frees up a seat, allowing the institute to issue a fresh unit. This creates a self-replenishing, perpetual funding mechanism.
